Leadwort Arts is a dynamic, privately-funded enterprise based in South London with a mission to publish plays, poems and topical pamphlets. It emerged in 2015 as a subsidiary of Plumbago Books, an award-winning publisher of academic books on music distributed by Boydell and Brewer: this flourished between 2000 and 2025, and focussed on writings by Hans Keller and his circle, monographs by music theorists, and studies of opera. The creative work of Leadwort Arts thus compliments the scholarly work of Plumbago Books. Both enterprises were launched by the same director, Christopher Wintle, who writes under his own name academically and under his nom de plume Simone Belcampo creatively. He is supported by a dedicated team of specialists.
